Oils on canvas, 11x14 inches, sold.

Gloucester cattle are considered to be in the AT RISK category of survival.

The breed originated from Gloucestershire and surrounding areas in the West Country of England. The animals were valued as dairy cattle, as providing strong and docile draught oxen and for their beef. Their milk is well-suited for cheese making. The cows, calves and steers are a mahogany brown and bulls almost black in color. All have a white tail, a prominent white streak down the back and a white belly. The horns have black tips. The animals depicted were seen at the Cotswold Farm Park in Gloucestershire, U.K.
